Happy Wednesday everybody! I’m pretty dang excited to share this recipe with y’all today. This recipe comes courtesy of my mom who has been making this waaaay before I was born, and I think it’s safe to say that this is her recipe because I have never met anyone else before who makes vanilla with Brandy.

I’ve seen vanilla made with Vodka before (not so sure about the taste on that one) but don’t think I’ve seen it made with Brandy (if you make it this way, sorry haha and let me know), but anyways, why buy vanilla extract when you can make your own for way less and about a gazillion times more delicious? Exactly! there’s no reason you shouldn’t, but obviously this is a recipe that has to sit for a hot second, so don’t think you can make some in a day haha.

Right now, I have 2 bottles of this stuff in my pantry-the new one I just made for the blog and to replenish from giving so much away for Christmas and another one from summer, it smells incredible btw.

So yeah, I keep a little bottle of already made vanilla next to the stove, and keep the bottles of it (yes, keep the vanilla beans in) in the pantry. Happy Hump Day y’all, and let me know if you make yourself some homemade vanilla 🙂 Look, vanilla beans and Brandy are our only ingredients…

slice each of your vanilla beans down the middle (don’t scrape the insides out)…

all of your vanilla beans sliced down the middle…

now place all of them into your bottle…

after all of them are placed in your bottle, place the top on and shake, shake the bottle and you’re done! (well, in 8 weeks it will be ready)…

and enjoy!!
