Y’all, this really puts the easy in Easy Blackberry Custard, for reals. The only thing that almost messed me up was how much custard batter this recipe made.
Luckily, I had double the amount of blackberries and an extra pie shell which was the perfect amount to make 2 separate pies, and thank goodness because this pie was gobbled up super duper fast.
I would like to mention that I used frozen blackberries because I was having a heck of a time finding enough fresh ones, but next time I will either find enough fresh ones or really really dry them off if frozen because there was a little more moisture in the custard than I would have liked (but still delicious!).
Anyways, this custard is super awesome and I will definitely be trying other kinds of fruit in the future because, dang it, this is super yummy and so easy to throw together. Have a wonderful hump day y’all!
First, eggs (or is it the chicken? sigh, I’m so lame haha)…
blackberries into the unbaked pie crust…
now custard onto the blackberries…
bake, bake, and please ignore the dirty oven door…
fresh out of the oven…btw your kitchen is gonna smell amazing while this is baking…
such a beautiful color, am I right? π

This sounded so good….I was very disappointed!
Holly says
I’m so sorry that was disappointing for you, I loved this, but I guess not everyone has the same taste.

My pies turned out wonderfully! I used about 1/3 the amount of recommended vanilla extract and fresh berries. I also had a problem with too much moisture in the finished product. Maybe coating the berries in flour before putting them in the pie crust would help. Thanks for the easy and delicious recipe!
Holly says
Hey Erin! thanks so much! Honestly I think I had a bit of a moisture problem too even after dabbing them with paper towels, but I think the flour is a great idea! Thanks for letting me know you and have an awesome day!

I’m not a baker, so I was really happy to find this and satisfy my craving for custard and these fresh blackberries I just bought!
I also just wanted to say the pop-ups on your page on my tablet are in the way of the recipe. You want me to care what is up next when I can’t even read this recipe with out acrobatics. No. It makes me want to get of this page as fast as I can.
Holly says
Hey Diane-thank you for your feedback, all the ads and stuff are a work in progress, I’m sorry they were so frustrating for you, I will definitely be making some changes.

Can I substitute Stevia for the sugar?
Holly says
Hey Robin!
I don’t see why not, I’ve never done it before but I recommend starting with very little Stevia and taste testing it since Stevia tends to be much much sweeter than regular granulated sugar. Let me know how it turns out!
