November 17, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Thursday everybody!!!  Just in case you didn’t know, exactly one week from today is Thanksgiving… I’ll just let the stress and panic set in for you like it has with me just in case it hasn’t already.  Let’s not even get into how close Christmas is getting…Anyways, with a major food holiday looming closer and closer by the minute, let’s talk about this easy and beyond decadent cocktail shall we?

Hot-Buttered-Whisky-Cider | HollysCheatDay.comFirst I want to tell y’all that the wonderful folks over at Drizly were sooo nice to send me some Jack Daniels for this perfect holiday cocktail, yes sent me, because they’re an online liquor store that delivers to your door (OMG where have they been all my life?!)

Hot-Buttered-Whisky-Cider | HollysCheatDay.comDefinitely check them out and see if they currently deliver in your city (they’re adding new ones all the time), because seriously this time of year everyone’s to do lists are ever increasing and a last minute run to the store for your party is inconvenient to say the least, and hello! Jack Daniels delivered to your door? yes please šŸ™‚

Hot-Buttered-Whisky-Cider | HollysCheatDay.comSo back to this amazing drink…y’all, the butter/brown sugar/spice mixture melts into the hot cider so wonderfully and decadently it’s basically dessert, and let’s not forget our friend Jack Daniels that makes this drink extra special.  I soo hope y’all get to make this for Thanksgiving (or Friendsgiving), heck really any reason because this is too good to miss.  Thank you so much for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend!!!

So let’s start with butter, brown sugar, and spices…

Bloody Good Shots–Happy 2nd Blogiversary!!!

October 27, 2016 By Holly

Happy Thursday & Happy 2nd Blogiversary to Holly’s Cheat Day!  Wow, can’t believe I’ve been food blogging now for 2 years.  Still so much for me to learn and still so many recipes to make for y’all, but I definitely want to say thank you soooo much to all of you guys who have become regulars around my little space here on the Interwebs haha.

Bloody-Good-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comThis will be my last official Halloween recipe post this year for the holiday because Halloween day we will be driving back from Orlando (most likely in a food and sugar coma fyi)–but I for sure plan on sharing some of the pics from Universal & Disney World (especially the food!) šŸ™‚

Bloody-Good-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comNow, back to what you’re really here for,  these delectable little shots.  Normally I would say please excuse the name of these little guys, but come on, it’s Halloween and these things are allowed haha.  They may have ‘bloody’ in the title but these shots are delicious.

Bloody-Good-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comVery fresh, sweet and potent, these little guys are definitely a must make for your Halloween party (obviously, you will have to quadruple the recipe for more folks, but no biggie).  Again, thank you so much for stopping by today, and helping me celebrate my 2nd Blogiversary.  I hope you have a wonderfully treat filled, fun and safe Halloween!

Double Toil and Trouble Shots

October 6, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Thursday everybody, as well as an early cocktail Friday!!!  Y’all I am extra excited to share this recipe today with you guys!

Double-Toil-and-Trouble-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comI love just about anything Halloween themed, and these little shots are so that, I mean, come on, orange and black sprinkled rims? Too cute! The title? well, I’ll just go ahead and take credit for that, well kind of, I was watching one of my favorite get in the Halloween mood movies Practical Magic  and was inspired by their witchy ways hehe.  Then, the best part, these little shots are delicious! These are definitely more tropical tasting the average Fall time drink, but who cares, they’re just so darn tasty.

Double-Toil-and-Trouble-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comThese little shots are just enough sweet without being crazy sweet, they’re bubbly, cold and most definitely have a kick.  Obviously you are welcome to turn down the kick by leaving out the rum and adding more pineapple juice, but I’m definitely liking them the way that they are.  I hope you get to enjoy these little guys soon (or in a regular glass is just fine too), have a wonderful day and a wonderful weekend!!!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Ingredients
  1. 1 Cup of Pineapple Juice.
  2. 1/4 Cup of Rum.
  3. 1/2 Teaspoon of Coconut Extract.
  4. 1 Bottle of Champagne, Chilled.
  5. 2 Drops of Red Food Coloring (Optional).
  6. 5 Drops of Orange Food Coloring (Optional)
  7. Orange and Black Sprinkles For Rim (Optional).
Instructions
  1. Mix together the pineapple juice, rum, coconut extract and food coloring to reach the color you desire.
  2. If you want sprinkles around the rim of your shot glasses, place honey around the rim and dip into the sprinkles.
  3. Now pour 1-2 ounces of your pineapple juice mixture into the shot glasses and fill the rest with the champagne and enjoy!
Notes
  1. I ran out of yellow food coloring, hence why I didn't mix it with red to make a more orange color, and I didn't realize I had orange gel food coloring already which I used a majority of, then throwing in a bit of red to get the color I wanted.

Under The Weather Toddy

September 23, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Friday everybody!!!  I’m not sure if it’s allergies, some weird cold/sinus thing, the plague, but for reals whatever awfulness that has been attacking me for almost 3 weeks now needs to stop.  Having a cold really stinks, but I would prefer getting one, then have it clear up after a week and be back to normal.

under-the-weather-toddy | hollyscheatday-comThat has not been happening…it’s like a permanent sore throat mixed with a semi sinus infection, ew.  I’m honestly wondering if I’m genuinely allergic to work (or at least my office), I start to get better over the weekend, then come Monday, I’m back to feeling like garbage again, sigh.  Anyways, y’all get the point, but on the only bright side of feeling like poo, is that a drink with hard liquor in it is less frowned upon when it’s for medicinal purposes.

under-the-weather-toddy | hollyscheatday-comI was genuinely surprised by how good this hot wonderful drink tasted.  Not overly sweet, not at all bitter, but just so soothing with the lemon, ginger, honey and let’s not forget the Jack Daniels haha.  It could be a placebo effect, but I no joke felt so much better after having this lovely beverage, take that sore throat hehe.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday, and thank you so much for stopping by !!!

Happy Happy Friday everybody !!! I am so excited to share this recipe with y’all today!!!  Why? well, first, it’s a milkshake (always a good idea), second, it’s a cocktail (very good idea) and third, it’s Halloween themed (woohoo!).

spooky-godiva-cookies-and-cream | hollyscheatday-comI am aware that the Halloween Oreos don’t taste any different than normal ones, but come on, they’re soo wonderfully Halloween with the orange filling and the cute little prints on the back, anyways, sorry, I get so excited about themed food hehe.  Sooo, back to this awesome cocktail treat.  This is another one that came together solely because I started throwing things together in a blender.

spooky-godiva-cookies-and-cream-shake | hollyscheatday-comThis shake turned out to be so delicious y’all, with all of the ice cream, Oreos and then the added bonus of the Godiva white chocolate liqueur, mmmmm.  BTW, in case you were wondering it’s still really really hot here with no end in sight for summer, sooo I figure something deliciously cold and Halloween themed is perfect!!!  Have a wonderful day, a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for stopping by!

Not Your Mama’s Hot Chocolate

September 9, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Cocktail Friday everybody!!!   Deep down, I think that if I continue to post chilly weather recipes it will make that wonderful weather appear here hehe.  Today is obviously another one of those recipes and a happy accident to boot.  I really am not a big drinker at all, though (obviously) I am one to partake in adult beverages from time to time, but definitely sparingly…Now, if you were to walk into my pantry, you would totally think I had a problem due to the sheer amount of bottles of liquors and liqueurs in there.

not-your-mamas-hot-chocolate | hollyscheatday-comMy stockpile of alcohol is totally due to this little blog and always wanting to share new cocktail recipes that need whatever ingredients in it.  What I’m saying is, is that I have 4 billion too many bottles of barely used liquor hanging around.  That’s where this recipe comes in, I decided this past cheat day that I needed to actually use the many varieties that I already had, and the first one to pop out at me was the Marshmallow Vodka, because yum.

not-your-mamas-hot-chocolate-sdovh-hollyscheatday-comI had some left over hot chocolate packs from my Frozen Hot Chocolate, and I thought maybe these might be a nice combo.  This cocktail turned out so decadent y’all, the thick hot chocolate with that little kick of the marshmallow vodka was so perfect.  I very much enjoyed sipping on this awesome drink, while sitting in the AC mind you, but maybe it’s cool enough where you’re at to have a cup or two.  Have a wonderful day, a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for stopping by!!!

Strawberry Gin and Tonic

August 26, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Friday!!! Jeez laweez y’all it’s almost the weekend woohoo! I really hope I’m not boring y’all with yet another take on my favorite cocktail in the whole world, the Gin and Tonic, but I obviously couldn’t help myself.

strawberry-gin-and-tonic | HollysCheatDay.comTechnically, strawberries are not in season right now, and they’re looking & tasting a little less than awesome around this time of year, but I had some and figured why not throw them into my drink for some beautiful color and flavor?

strawberry-gin-and-tonic | HollysCheatDay.comOh and in my opinion mint also goes so nicely with strawberries so I threw a little bit of that in too.  This drink, like most G & T’s isn’t overly sweet (which I actually prefer in cocktails) but has a slight hint of strawberry and a slight hint of mint.  This to me is very refreshing and light, and if that’s your thing too then I think you’ll really enjoy this.  Have a fabulous day and weekend and thank you so much stopping by!

Summer Southern Series: The Boozy Georgia Peach

August 19, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Cocktail Friday friends!!!  I can’t emphasize enough how darn happy I am we are tthhiiss close to the weekend.  Honestly, there doesn’t seem to be any one particular reason, but a culmination of sitting in hours upon hours and hours, and hours, and hours of ATL traffic, dealing with crazy folks all week and a general lack of sleep has finally just taken its toll, y’all feel me?

The-Boozy-Georgia-Peach-clssdovh| HollysCheatDay.comI honestly have no idea how parents do it, I have no kids (except a giant fur baby) and I feel spent, and I know some of y’all have the same work load/commute/life shenanigans AND have kids, so props to y’all, this drink is for you.  I would like to emphasize that I do not, nor have I ever believed alcohol to be the fixer of problems, but dang, sometimes the day/week/month/weird co-worker just calls for it šŸ™‚

The-Boozy-Georgia-Peach| HollysCheatDay.comThe Boozy Georgia Peach isn’t exactly a Southern classic since I literally threw it together my last cheat day, but it definitely should be, because holy moly this is delicious!!  Just imagine an incredible fresh peach milkshake with that wonderful extra oomph from the Brandy and Vodka, and voila the making of an amazing dessert cocktail.  This is beyond good, please, just go make it ASAP.  Have a wonderful day, an even better weekend and thank you so much for stopping by!

August 12, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Cocktail Friday!!!  OMG y’all if I was sent less than 10 articles about FrosĆ© being ‘the new thing’ in all the cool bars in New York City this summer I would be shocked haha.

Frosé| HollysCheatDay.comI am not at all complaining, I promise, I love when friends and family send me stuff that they think would be fun/delicious to make, but it got funnier and funnier every time someone else would send me this recipe.

Frosé| HollysCheatDay.comI think I finally answered everyone back with a huge promise that I would make this recipe on my next cheat day.  Honestly, like all things that are hyped up I get very skeptical and hope that it lives up to mine and everyone’s expectations, but I’m very happy to tell you guys that this one totally did.  I cannot believe how much like a strawberry daiquiri this tasted like, except better because it’s so light.

FrosĆ©| HollysCheatDay.comLike all alcohol, it doesn’t freeze perfectly solid, but the perfect icy consistency the RosĆ© cubes become is awesome and I was so tempted to sit there and eat a few of them haha.  This drink was so deliciously cold, and the perfect mixture of the champagne and strawberry flavors, absolutely a must make.  I hope you have a fabulous Friday and an even better weekend, and as always thank you so much for stopping by!

Blackberry Lemon Tonic

August 8, 2016 By Holly

Happy Monday y’all!  I hope none of you guys are judging me because I’m posting a cocktail on a Monday, but I love this drink so much I couldn’t wait to share it.

blackberry-lemon-tonic| HollysCheatDay.comThis drink is definitely a happy accident. I had had another idea for a drink that was similar and it just wasn’t coming together properly, so looking into my fridge I realized I had a ton of lemonade left from another drink and some gorgeous looking blackberries sitting pretty in there too.

blackberry-lemon-tonic | HollysCheatDay.comThose were definitely my starting points, but I knew it needed a touch of one of my favorite things, a Gin and tonic, yummy!  I will say if you are not at all a fan of Gin and tonics and think they’re not sweet enough for you, then this is the perfect cocktail for you.

blackberry-lemon-tonic-clsrovh| HollysCheatDay.comThe gorgeous blackberries mixed with the fresh lemonade is deliciously sweet but light tasting, and of course the tonic adds the bubbly and the Gin is my homie is just that perfect kick.  Be careful with this one guys, you do not taste the alcohol at all, it just tastes like this wonderful summertime drink to sip by the pool–I’m not promoting public intoxication just so y’all know haha.  Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful start to your week and thank you so much for stopping by!
