Happy Cocktail Friday everybody! It’s been a week y’all, this cocktail couldn’t come at a better time, for reals. With all of the holidays that I feel like are coming up, I knew I had forgotten one…Girl Scout Cookie Season-not a holiday but maybe there should be?

Lemon Drop Shots–201st Post!!!

February 5, 2016 By Holly

Happy Cocktail Friday everybody!!  Y’all I totally can’t believe I didn’t notice that Wednesday’s post was my 200th post, so we’re going to celebrate my 201st post instead today with some shots haha!!!

lemon-drop-shots| HollysCheatDay.comYou guys, I’m loving these lemon drop shots, they’re darn tart because they’re full of fresh lemon juice, the mint adds serious freshness,  the edge is taken off by the sugar, and you don’t even taste the vodka if that’s a concern of yours haha.

lemon-drop-shots| HollysCheatDay.comSpeaking of sugar, I originally made these with regular granulated sugar, but soon realized that the sugar would not at all dissolve, so instead I used some simple syrup, which you can see how to make here…The simple syrup made all the difference in the world let me tell you, because these naughty little shots were making me pucker big time without the right amount of sugar added.

lemon-drop-shots| HollysCheatDay.com These would be so much fun to serve for the Super Bowl this Sunday, and this recipe can easily be doubled or tripled depending on how many you need.  Have a wonderful weekend everybody and go whatever team you’re rooting for on Sunday–the Falcons aren’t in the game so I’m all whatevs haha.

Get all of that fresh lemon juice out…

lemon-drop-shots| HollysCheatDay.complace your lemon juice into your shaker or glass…

lemon-drop-shots| HollysCheatDay.comnow your mint…

lemon-drop-shots| HollysCheatDay.comand your sugar (ignore that it’s not simple syrup, I used that later)…

Vanilla Spiced Cocktail

January 29, 2016 By Holly

Happy Cocktail Friday everybody!!!  I gotta say, we may not have gotten as much snow as they had predicted last weekend, but as I mentioned Monday it was still so enjoyable to watch it fall.

vanilla-spiced-cocktail| HollysCheatDay.comIt did however get downright super cold with the wind absolutely howling, sooo what better way to warm up than with a delightful cocktail such as this one.

vanilla-spiced-cocktail| HollysCheatDay.comThis drink has more than a few awesome things going for it, first, lots of lovely vanilla in it, second, Brandy and third it’s served warm, hence my desire to have one on my freezing cold cheat day.

vanilla-spiced-cocktail| HollysCheatDay.comI really loved this drink, creamy from the milk, lots of flavor from the spices and a personal favorite, Brandy–talk about warm you up!  Anyways, have a wonderful and hopefully warmer weekend than the last one y’all, and if you’re still covered up in snow where you’re at I have provided you with the perfect drink 😉

Brandy Arnold Palmer

January 22, 2016 By Holly

Happy Cocktail Friday everybody!! Sometimes a super cold, light and refreshing cocktail is exactly what the doctor yeah right ordered hehe.  I know, I know, it’s cold in and around most of the western world but honestly I was so needing a cocktail and something heavy sounded just terrible.

brandy-arnold-palmer| HollysCheatDay.comI wanted refreshing, and to me Arnold Palmers are nothing if not refreshing and a little Brandy never hurt anything so woohoo there’s my drink!  I think delightful is the perfect adjective for this cocktail, because you don’t really taste the liquor, not too sweet, not at all too bitter or tasteless, just perfect.

brandy-arnold-palmer| HollysCheatDay.comAlso, I totally cheated and bought already made un-sweet tea and lemonade, but please forgive me, sometimes I just want to get to my drink and I don’t want to take the time to make everything,

brandy-arnold-palmer-sdovh| HollysCheatDay.comI’m human, hey but I did zest my own lemon, go me.  Anyways, have a wonderful, wonderful Friday and weekend.

Drunk In Love Punch

January 15, 2016 By Holly

Happy Cocktail Friday everybody!! I really can’t begin to describe how excited I am to share this recipe with you guys, not just because it’s delicious but because it’s my first Valentine’s Day recipe–it’s never too early for all thinks pink and red y’all 🙂

drunk-in-love-punch| HollysCheatDay.comI would like to preface what I’m about to say by saying that though I have cocktail Fridays on my blog, I actually do drink quite sparingly, aka I’m a lightweight, my body does not deal with alcohol well, and it only happens on some cheat days, but I could drink this Love Punch until I was snockered drunk.

drunk-in-love-punch| HollysCheatDay.comYes, it is just that tasty, and being honest, tasty doesn’t do this drink justice.  Champagne tends to be way too dry for me, but in this drink all you taste is the bubbly awesomeness of it, and the cinnamon/sugar reduction gives this drink this incredible cinnamon-ey undertone, and the fruit juices give the perfect amount of sweetness.

drunk-in-love-punch| HollysCheatDay.comAlso, due to the whole computer debacle from last week, my original recipe was lost, so I did my absolute best in remembering how I did this recipe, I know, no one is perfect, but I think I got it pretty close.  Anyway, have a wonderful, amazing weekend y’all and make this as soon as possible, and don’t be afraid to experiment with this recipe 🙂

Cinnamon sticks, water, cloves and sugar into your saucepan…

DRUNK IN LOVE CINNAMON SUGAR REDUCTION
  1. 2 Cinnamon Sticks.
  2. 5 Whole Cloves.
  3. 1 Cup of Water.
  4. 1/2 Cup of Sugar.
DRUNK IN LOVE PUNCH
  1. 3/4 Cup of Cranberry Juice.
  2. 1/2 Cup of Pineapple Juice.
  3. 1/2 Cup of Pink Rosé Champagne, Chilled.
  4. 1/4 Cup of the Cinnamon/Sugar Reduction.
  5. Red Decorative Sugar For Glass Rims (Optional).
  6. 2-4 Strawberries for Garnish (Optional).
FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR REDUCTION
  1. In a small saucepan place your water, cinnamon, cloves, and sugar in your pan and bring to a boil.
  2. Lower the temperature for your pan, and while stirring, let simmer for a little more than 5 minutes, making sure your sugar is dissolved.
  3. Now remove your pan from the heat, remove your cinnamon and cloves and let your sugar reduction come to room temperature (I put mine in the fridge to speed up the cooling process).
FOR THE LOVE PUNCH
  1. Add all of your ingredients together and mix, divide amongst your two glasses and enjoy!
Notes
  1. The sugar/cinnamon reduction recipe makes a lot more than you need but you could definitely double the rest of your ingredients and make for a larger group of people.
  2. If you would like to have a sugar rim around your glasses, with your finger place honey around the rims and dip your glasses into the sugar.

Darjeeling Milk Punch

December 7, 2015 By Holly

Happy (Cocktail) Monday y’all!! Haha I know totally random to post a cocktail on a Monday but I am currently still on vacation so it’s no normal Monday in my world 🙂  Also, I think this one is just too good to make you wait until Friday to share.

darjeeling-milk-punch| HollysCheatDay.comI think this drink is awesomely different, definitely a nice mixture of creamy from the heavy whipping cream, a nice kick from the Brandy (a personal favorite), the sweetness of the simple syrup and the Darjeeling tea adds that little something extra.

November 20, 2015 By Holly

Happy Friday everybody!!!  I’m so excited y’all! It is exactly 2 weeks until we’re headed to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios! Weeee!! I feel like a little kid at Christmas.

butter-beer| HollysCheatDay.comI honestly cannot pick a favorite place, because Disney is full of nostalgia and magic and Universal has all things Harry Potter, amazing roller coasters, and definitely magic there too.  Speaking of magic, while we were at Universal last time, I allowed myself one cheat treat the whole time we were there and it was the warm Butterbeer…umm OMG it was amazing and apparently it was totally approved by J.K.
