Double Toil and Trouble Shots

October 6, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Thursday everybody, as well as an early cocktail Friday!!!  Y’all I am extra excited to share this recipe today with you guys!

Double-Toil-and-Trouble-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comI love just about anything Halloween themed, and these little shots are so that, I mean, come on, orange and black sprinkled rims? Too cute! The title? well, I’ll just go ahead and take credit for that, well kind of, I was watching one of my favorite get in the Halloween mood movies Practical Magic  and was inspired by their witchy ways hehe.  Then, the best part, these little shots are delicious! These are definitely more tropical tasting the average Fall time drink, but who cares, they’re just so darn tasty.

Double-Toil-and-Trouble-Shots | HollysCheatDay.comThese little shots are just enough sweet without being crazy sweet, they’re bubbly, cold and most definitely have a kick.  Obviously you are welcome to turn down the kick by leaving out the rum and adding more pineapple juice, but I’m definitely liking them the way that they are.  I hope you get to enjoy these little guys soon (or in a regular glass is just fine too), have a wonderful day and a wonderful weekend!!!  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Ingredients
  1. 1 Cup of Pineapple Juice.
  2. 1/4 Cup of Rum.
  3. 1/2 Teaspoon of Coconut Extract.
  4. 1 Bottle of Champagne, Chilled.
  5. 2 Drops of Red Food Coloring (Optional).
  6. 5 Drops of Orange Food Coloring (Optional)
  7. Orange and Black Sprinkles For Rim (Optional).
Instructions
  1. Mix together the pineapple juice, rum, coconut extract and food coloring to reach the color you desire.
  2. If you want sprinkles around the rim of your shot glasses, place honey around the rim and dip into the sprinkles.
  3. Now pour 1-2 ounces of your pineapple juice mixture into the shot glasses and fill the rest with the champagne and enjoy!
Notes
  1. I ran out of yellow food coloring, hence why I didn't mix it with red to make a more orange color, and I didn't realize I had orange gel food coloring already which I used a majority of, then throwing in a bit of red to get the color I wanted.

Monster Munch Chex Mix

October 4, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Tuesday everybody!!!  Finally it’s October!!!  Which means I can shamelessly share all things pumpkin, spooky, candy corn, caramel etc.  Speaking of  candy corn, I just want to let y’all know that it is absolutely hands down one of my favorite candies ever, like ever.  I’m not even really sure why because it’s sooo simple in it’s flavor but yummy nonetheless,  I will straight up eat an entire bag by myself in one sitting #addict.

monster-munch-chex-mix | hollyscheatday-comI also throw the candy pumpkins in the same category of awesome because they are identical in flavor FYI hehe.  Anyways, the wonderful folks over at Simple Recipes Club sent me a gigantic box full of different kinds of candy corn.  OMG y’all it was like Christmas(?) Halloween(?), okay well whatevs, it was downright awesome.  There were pumpkin candy corns, regular candy corns, a Harvest mix of candy corn and even some extra cool flavors like caramel apple mmmm.

monster-munch-chex-mix | hollyscheatday-comObviously after opening the magical box of candy I knew exactly what I wanted to make with it, you know, other than just eating them all by myself.  I’ve had this chex mix recipe running around in my head for a while now.  I wanted crunchy, as well as sweet and salty, a little pumpkin spicy, and let’s not forget the star of the show, candy corn.  Y’all this stuff was straight up crack, I was eating so much of it I am surprised that any made it to family and friends, I highly recommend you make this ASAP haha.  Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!!!

  5. 1/2-1 Cup of Candy Corn.
  6. 4 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter.
  7. 1/2 Cup of Light Brown Sugar.
  8. 2 Tablespoons of Light Corn Syrup.
  9. 1 Tablespoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice.
  10. 1 Teaspoon of Sea Salt or To Taste (Optional).
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, place your Cheerios, Chex, Pretzels and Bugles.

  3. Place back into the microwave for 30-45 seconds (just watch closely) until it starts to boil.
  4. Pour your brown sugar/corn syrup mixture over your dry ingredients and mix all in evenly.
  5. Then quickly add in your candy corn and mix in as well, let your mix cool harden up a bit and enjoy!!
Notes
  1. If you want your chex mix to be even crunchier, after you mix in your brown sugar/corn syrup mixture you can place back into the microwave for 20-30 second increments, giving it a stir in between.
  2. You can totally adjust the amount or type of cereal used, I just used the kind that I like best and would have the most festive flavors.

roasted-spicy-maple-rosemary-nuts | hollyscheatday-comI’m still trying to get that recipe from them, and y’all don’t even know how bad I want to share that here with you guys.  Unfortunately, and obviously, that’s not what I’m making here today, but another delicious item that they have (I told you, everything there is delicious).  Who would have thought that one of their little free appetizers could be so darn good that I would have immediately started trying to figure out how to make it myself?

roasted-spicy-maple-rosemary-nuts | hollyscheatday-comNow, I’m not saying these are as good as their version, but I will say it’s pretty ding dang close.  These nuts are just slightly spicy, sweet, a little bit savory and the rosemary coming off of these is intoxicating.  This is a one bowl, quick and easy recipe and just perfect to have hanging around for a snack, even though there wasn’t much hanging around with these because I ate them all haha.  I hope you’re having a wonderful week,  have a wonderful weekend and thank you so much for stopping by!!!

September 23, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Friday everybody!!!  I’m not sure if it’s allergies, some weird cold/sinus thing, the plague, but for reals whatever awfulness that has been attacking me for almost 3 weeks now needs to stop.  Having a cold really stinks, but I would prefer getting one, then have it clear up after a week and be back to normal.

under-the-weather-toddy | hollyscheatday-comThat has not been happening…it’s like a permanent sore throat mixed with a semi sinus infection, ew.  I’m honestly wondering if I’m genuinely allergic to work (or at least my office), I start to get better over the weekend, then come Monday, I’m back to feeling like garbage again, sigh.  Anyways, y’all get the point, but on the only bright side of feeling like poo, is that a drink with hard liquor in it is less frowned upon when it’s for medicinal purposes.

under-the-weather-toddy | hollyscheatday-comI was genuinely surprised by how good this hot wonderful drink tasted.  Not overly sweet, not at all bitter, but just so soothing with the lemon, ginger, honey and let’s not forget the Jack Daniels haha.  It could be a placebo effect, but I no joke felt so much better after having this lovely beverage, take that sore throat hehe.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday, and thank you so much for stopping by !!!

Cinnamon Crunch Popcorn

September 21, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Wednesday everybody!!! Let’s get right into this recipe you guys, I’m way essited excited to share this one, but first I have to admit popcorn is a huge guilty pleasure for me.  I’m sure some of y’all are thinking ‘Gee Holly, that’s odd since popcorn isn’t even close to the unhealthiest things you’ve put on your blog‘ well, for a good reason,  I have been allergic to corn since I was born.

cinnamon-crunch-popcorn | hollyscheatday-comOh yes, before it was cool to be anti corn syrup, I had to be, and y’all know what? they put that stuff in everything, and not just in syrup form, but for reals, corn goes into everything.  I mean, thank goodness that they have started to cut down on it because dang, never getting to eat anything (fun) that my friends & family were was such a bummer as a kid.  Anyways, that was a bit of a tangent sorry, but thank goodness these days I’m not neeearrly as allergic as I used to be, which means I can eat it occasionally which makes it an extra treat.

cinnamon-crunch-popcorn | hollyscheatday-comIf you’ve been hanging around my blog for a little while now, you might be a bit familiar with a few of my favs (aren’t they all though? haha) caramel, cinnamon, pumpkin etc., so obviously this recipe is near and dear to my mouth my heart.  Y’all, when this popcorn came out of the oven and it was still a bit soft and gooey, it tasted just like cinnamon toast with an extra oomph of caramel, yes, it burned my mouth, and yes it was worth it.  This is honestly like crack, just go make it, your day will be better for it 🙂 I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far and thank you so much for stopping by!

crockpot-pumpkin-bread-pudding | hollyscheatday-comFirst off, you really can’t beat desserts made in the crockpot, honestly if the thought of baking cakes/cupcakes/bread pudding in the oven is intimidating, I highly recommend getting a start with a crockpot.

Easy Salted Pretzel Bites

September 14, 2016 By Holly

Hey everybody!!!  Y’all, it’s only Wednesday, what the heck?  When you have totally reached your quota of people annoying you, arguing with you, and generally just causing massive amounts of stress and discontent inside, and then you realize it’s only the middle of the week, siiiigh.

easy-salted-pretzel-bites | hollyscheatday-comI’m normally a very happy and positive person, but there are just some people who come along and put a quick stop to that, and folks, that has been happening since Monday.  Literally visions of getting in my car, driving far far away and changing my name have genuinely crossed my mind at least 10 times, yes a little melodramatic but whatevs.

easy-salted-pretzel-bites | hollyscheatday-comI guess all I can do is keep on praying for my continued sanity  haha.  Soo anyways, back to what you’re really here for..food, and lots of it. I don’t know about y’all, but soft pretzels in my mind are one of the most delectable savory treats in the world (a very grand statement, but I’m sticking to it).

easy-salted-pretzel-bites | hollyscheatday-comI mean, come on, soft, buttery, chewy dough covered in sea salt? mmmmmm…Something so simple yet so awesome, and today I show you an easy way to enjoy them at home, and hello with an easy cheese dip!  I really hope each and every one of you are having a wonderful day and thank you so much for stopping by !!!

Skillet Tater Tot Casserole

September 12, 2016 By Holly

Happy Happy Monday y’all!!!  There are few food items in this world that I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I love to nosh on, but one of those items is tater tots.  I don’t know why either, maybe because the word ‘tater’ is used, maybe because they seem like the bastard spawn of baked potatoes, honestly just not sure, but in my mind there is no denying their deliciousness.

skillet-tater-tot-casserole | hollyscheatday-comI will also admit here today that I have been known to on many a cheat day,  go through the drive-in at Sonic (yes I said drive-in, haha).  I go to Sonic for one thing and one thing only, their cheese tots, nom, nom, and honestly I feel like such a hillbilly to even admit that, but oh well there it is for all to judge, haha.

skillet-tater-tot-casserole | hollyscheatday-comLet’s be real though, sometimes I think some of us (definitely not me of course) just want to lounge around in yoga pants, glasses and our hair on top of our heads in a bun on the weekend and do nothing except enjoy food and fun, amaright?  Well, luckily if you’re feeling a bit hillbilly hungry you too can enjoy some delicious, cheesy gooey tots baked to perfection in an iron skillet while still in the comfort of your stretchy pants own home.

skillet-tater-tot-casserole | hollyscheatday-comThese little guys baking up smelled absolutely delectable y’all, and no joke it was thrown together so quickly, the oven wasn’t even done pre-heating yet.  These tots would make for a wonderful side dish or main dish, way too good to miss you guys 🙂 Have an awesome day and thank you so much for stopping by!!!
